STEVEN GERRARD has named his starting XI for Rangers' Europa League Group A curtain-raiser against Lyon at Ibrox.

The 41-year-old is without a few first-team regulars after Ianis Hagi returned a positive test for coronavirus whilst on international duty with Romania, while Swedish centre-half Filip Helander - who scored the winning goal in last month's Old Firm derby - is expected to be out until December while he recuperates from surgery.

Midfielder Ryan Jack is closing in on a return to the starting line-up but this evening's clash with the Ligue 1 giants has come too soon for the 29-year-old.

Allan McGregor comes back into the team between the sticks, relegating Jon McLaughlin to a role on the bench, while captain James Tavernier retains his starting spot from the weekend's victory over Dundee United. Borna Barisic replaces Calvin Bassey at left-back.

Connor Goldson will partner Leon Balogun in central defence while Glen Kamara, Steven Davis and John Lundstram will form Rangers' midfield three.

Ryan Kent and Joe Aribo have been selected to feature in the two inside No.10 roles that Gerrard favours in front of that trio, while Alfredo Morelos will lead the line in attack.
