TOMMY BURNS' son Jonathan has paid a touching tribute to Rangers legend Walter Smith after he sadly passed away yesterday.
Smith, who died at the age of 73, won 10 Scottish titles, five Scottish Cups and six League Cups over two spells in charge of the Ibrox club, as well as leading them to the UEFA Cup final in 2008.
He retired in 2011 but had a brief spell as the club’s chairman.
Smith also spent time as Scotland manager where he worked closely alongside Celtic hero Burns.
The pair forged a great friendship and Smith carried Burns' coffin at his funeral in 2008.
The images of that day etched their way into the landscape of Scottish football.
Burns' son Jonathan paid his respects to Smith on Twitter yesterday.
He worte: "Thoughts are with Walter's family and friends at this time.
"A true legend of Scottish football, but more importantly just a brilliant man.
"Simply the best."
