RANGERS ARE SLOW STARTERS

Rangers once again went behind early doors when Bevis Mugabi opened the scoring for Motherwell on 13 minutes. Steven Gerrard’s side actually looked quite bright in the opening stages, but once again they found themselves a goal down. It comes after Rangers found themselves two goals behind against Aberdeen midweek after just 16 minutes. They also went behind against St Mirren last weekend before ultimately turning it around to win 2-1 in Paisley. Gerrard has spoken of his frustrations over the slow starts Rangers have been making, but he will be mightily impressed at how his team turned it round against Motherwell. They might not find it so easy though if they continue to be slow out of the blocks against some of the league’s top outfits.

IMPRESSIVE SAKALA

Fashion Sakala was given the nod by Steven Gerrard ahead of this one and he certainly took his opportunity. His manager challenged him to get in behind and be a “constant menace” in and around the Motherwell defence. Not only did he deliver three goals, but his overall link up play was impressive too. His pace gave Rangers a useful out ball and he provided a lot of support for Alfredo Morelos. Gerrard will be hoping that Sakala can build on his impressive display as we enter a key point of the Premiership campaign.

CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

James Tavernier once again showed his ability in the final third with a stunning finish to draw Rangers level. The Ibrox skipper hasn’t hit the numbers that he was producing last season, but today’s performance was more like his usual self. The Englishman was a constant threat on the right flank and he bombed on down the wing at every opportunity. His deliveries were also top notch and on a number of occasions he found himself in and around the back post as he looked to add to his goal tally.
