CHARLIE ADAM has hinted he would be interested in returning to Rangers as part of the club's new coaching staff.
Steven Gerrard and his backroom team departed Ibrox this morning.
The 41-year-old has signed a three-a-half year deal with Aston Villa.
Adam says he is not surprised to see the Englishman return down south, because he will want to test himself as a manager in the Premier League.
The 35-year-old is Dundee captain and is still playing after a career which saw him playing for Rangers, Blackpool, Liverpool and Stoke.
However, Adam has plans to take his first steps into coaching when he retires from playing.
And he has refused to rule out calling time on playing to join Rangers' backroom staff should he get the opportunity.
Jim White asked Adam directly if he would fancy a role on the backroom staff of whoever takes over the Ibrox hotseat.
He told talkSPORT: "These discussions take place, there's always names.
"In football, you know things change quickly, I am still playing but you can never rule anything out.
"Coaching is something I'm looking forward to doing when I do finish and I do retire.
"Rangers are a big club, and whoever comes in will be looking to bring their own people in because Steven obviously a big staff and he's taking the majority with him, probably all of them
"Rangers will be looking to fill positions and we'll see where that goes."
