CLIVE TYLDESLEY has provided a small insight into Steven Gerrard's life as Rangers manager.

The 41-year-old this morning left the Ibrox side as he was announced as Dean Smith's successor at Villa Park.

It comes just a matter of months after Gerrard delivered the club's 55th league title.

He also leaves the Glasgow giants at a time where vital fixtures loom in the near future, including a League Cup semi-final and do-or-die Europa League group match.

Gary McAllister, Michael Beale and other members of the backroom staff will follow Gerrard to Villa.

The move spells the end to Gerrard's time in Scotland after three-and-a-half years since taking his first job in management in 2018.

In that time, his family have remained back home in Liverpool.

And Rangers TV commentator Tyldesley has provided a key insight into Gerrard's life while at the Ibrox club, something which could well have been a deciding factor in his switch to Villa.

He tweeted: "One small insight I can add… I’ve had several conversations with Steven Gerrard while he has been on the M74 after a snatched overnight with his family.

"He is many things but a dad and husband first and second."
