SCOTLAND will face Ukraine in the semi-final of the World Cup play-offs next year.

Steve Clarke's men will host the Ukrainians at Hampden in March 2022 as the nation aims to take another huge step towards qualification for a major tournament.

The semi-final is due to take place on March 24 next year.

Steve Clarke's team were among the six seeds in the European play-offs, which will produce three qualifiers for Qatar 2022.

European champions Italy, Portugal, Russia and Sweden were also among the seeds, with Wales joining as well.

As well as discovering their semi-final opponents, Scotland's potential final adversaries will also become apparent. 

The twelve teams in the draw were divided into three groups to play semis and finals. 

Scotland were the first name out of the hat at they were placed into Path A. 

Fellow home nation Wales were also placed into the same group. 

This means should both sides prevail from the semis, they will meet in the final.

The final of Path A will be played at the home side of semi-final two, which means Scotland would be away from home should they make it.
