GIOVANNI VAN BRONCKHORST insists Rangers will only make a move for John Souttar if it is the 'right thing to do' before the end of the January window.
Souttar put pen-to-paper on a long-term contract with the champions earlier this month and will make the switch to Ibrox at the end of the season.
But Rangers remain interested in striking a deal that would see Souttar join Van Bronckhorst's side within a matter of days.
The 25-year-old is poised to return to Robbie Neilson's side for the clash with Celtic this evening and that could well be his final outing for the Jambos.
Van Bronckhorst said: “I said before, we are happy that John will join us next season.
"I think he will only come this window if we think it’s the right thing to do.
"If not, we will welcome him in a couple of months."
