AARON RAMSEY has admitted that Wednesday’s Old Firm derby at Parkhead will probably come too soon for him but the Wales internationalist is confident it won’t be long until Rangers supporters get to see him in action.

The 31-year-old completed a sensational deadline day move to Glasgow on loan from Italian giants Juventus and says he is looking forward to playing regular first-team football once again.

Some fans may have been hoping to catch their first glimpse of Ramsey in light blue during the upcoming derby at Celtic Park but the man himself thinks he’s not quite up to scratch yet.

“I’m probably going to be a little bit short for the Old Firm game but hopefully I can get myself ready this week and look forward to getting ready for the weekend, really,” Ramsey told Rangers TV.

“I’ve had these conversations with the manager and the staff and hopefully we can get a plan in place to get going and back up to match fitness as soon as possible.

“Rangers is a massive club, huge around the world. For me to the opportunity to come here and play for this great club, for the manager, the way he wants to play…

“It’s a possession-based team that plays the way I like to play as well. There are many benefits to being here, in European football and to experience a couple of the Old Firm games as well.

“I’m just excited to be here and be a part of that really.

“I just want to get back to playing and showing what I can do again. It’s a great opportunity here for me to do that.

“The last couple of years have been a bit difficult at times but for me now it’s about looking forward, pulling on that blue jersey and hopefully showing what I can do.”

Ramsey added that some conversations with manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst sold him on a move to Ibrox as he feels the Dutchman’s style of play will bring out the best in him.

“I had a few conversations with the manager,” Ramsey explained. “I was very impressed by the way the meetings went and I’m very excited to be a part of the philosophy he wants to bring - and has - at this football club.

“It’s a good match. Hopefully we can work well together and have many successful times.

“I know there are many challenges here. There is a lot of pressure on us to get results.

“I’m just excited to experience it, to try and help the team and help the fans have something to celebrate at the end of the year.

“It’s all happened quickly. Now I’m really happy to be here and hopefully get to work.”
