DAVID GOODWILLIE's departure from Raith Rovers has been sealed - as the striker re-joins former club Clyde.
The attacker, 32, was signed by the Starks Park side on Deadline Day in the January transfer window in a hugely controversial move.
The shamed former Scotland cap was ruled to be a rapist by a judge in a civil court back in 2017, as he and fellow ex-Dundee United team-mate David Robertson were ordered to pay Denise Clair £100,000 in damages.
Raith currently sit fourth in the Championship, and have not won a game since the move was announced on January 31.
However, now, a loan deal has been struck between Raith and Clyde prior to Monday night's loans deadline in Scotland.
And the striker will make the temporary transfer a permanent move back to Broadwood.
A Clyde statement read: "Following an initial approach by Raith Rovers, and subsequent agreement between the two clubs, we can confirm that David Goodwillie has returned to Broadwood on loan until the end of the 2021-22 season.
"This enables David to return to first team activities including training and playing and, in doing so, continue his career in football at the current time."
The former Scotland man was Clyde captain prior to the move to Kirkcaldy, scoring 109 goals over five years.
Raith's signing of Goodwillie sparked fury across the football community and further afield.
Club director Bill Clark, who is a lifelong Rovers fan, quit his role along with supporter-director Andy Mill.
Celebrity fan and major sponsor of the club, Val McDermid, ended her association with the club over the incident.
Raith initially stood by their decision to sign Goodwillie, before performing a dramatic U-Turn days later, announcing he would never pull on a Raith jersey.
He will now ply his trade once more for League One side Clyde.
