Rangers Ratings

ALLAN MCGREGOR 9

Many doubted the experienced goalkeeper in recent weeks, but he proved why he’s the Rangers No.1 at Ibrox last night. Stunning penalty stop, as well as a number of key saves from open play.

JAMES TAVERNIER 8

Slotted his penalty expertly under great pressure. Bombed forward at every opportunity and defended well when called upon. Top display.

CONNOR GOLDSON 7

Almost joined his defensive teammate Leon Balogun on the scoresheet with a carbon copy header that was ultimately cleared off the line in the second period. Cut open a couple of times, but more often than not, a rock at the back.

LEON BALOGUN 8

What a header for the third goal, there was no stopping it. Read so many potential Red Star counters with ease and cut out the danger.

CALVIN BASSEY 6

Came in for Borna Barisic, who started against Aberdeen. Brilliant engine on him and was constantly up and down the left. Says a lot that he was given the nod ahead of his Croatian teammate.

RYAN JACK 6

A man for the big occasion. Combative and busy in the middle. Never shied away from possession and kept the ball well. Looked a bit leggy before being subbed off.

GLEN KAMARA 7

Utilised in front of Ryan Jack and John Lundstram in midfield and performed well further up the pitch. Appeared to enjoy the attacking responsibility and linked up well with his forward-thinking teammates.

JOHN LUNDSTRAM  7

Continued his impressive run of form. Showed plenty of fight in the middle of the park and was calm and composed in possession.

JOE ARIBO 6

An energetic display in midfield. Supported Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos with a number of tidy touches in the final third. Poor tackle in the first half, lucky to only get a yellow.

RYAN KENT 8

A constant attacking threat for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men. Has stepped up to plate on the big occasion of late - must be a nightmare to defend against.

ALFREDO MORELOS 9

Complete striker’s performance. Linked play, bullied the opposition backline and grabbed a goal. Loves a European night at Ibrox and his performance showed why he is one of the best forwards in the competition.
