EXPERIENCED Dutch referee Danny Makkelie will take charge of Scotland’s crucial World Cup play-off semi-final against Ukraine tomorrow night.
The 39-year-old is no stranger to handling big games having overseen the 2020 Europa League Final between Inter Milan and Sevilla.
Makkelie, who is a police inspector away from the game, was also the man in the middle for England’s Euro 2020 semi-final victory over Denmark, while this season he was the referee for Liverpool's Champions League last four second leg win over Villarreal.
This will be his second trip to Glasgow this season after taking charge of Rangers’ 2-0 Europa League group win over Sparta Prague last November.
Makkelie is also among 36 referees to have been selected for the World Cup finals in Qatar.
