Craig Gordon 7
Could do nothing to stop Armenia’s opener, the defending in front of him was poor. Held everything that came his way. Tipped a dipping shot round the post.
Scott McTominay 6
Filtered back into defence, playing on the right side of the three. Should have dropped back to help block cross for opening goal. Midfield instincts evident. Able to pitch in with attacks in second period.
Grant Hanley 6
Found totally wanting for Armenia’s first goal. Beaten for pace and then easily outmuscled on the wing, which allowed their attacker into very dangerous territory, clearly. Much more comfortable second-half.
Jack Hendry 6
Played left of the back three, with no left footers in the squad. Floated in cross for Adams which led to equalising goal. Put in vital last-ditch tackle to prevent Armenia re-taking lead inside 20-minutes. Struggled with balls over the top.
Nathan Patterson 7
Beaten by his man on a few occasions during first-half. Space between himself and McTominay exposed at times. Should have done better with chance at back-post. Provided lovely first-time lay-off for McGinn’s goal.
Billy Gilmour 7
Always looked to get on the ball and tried to get the ball into either Adams or McGinn’s feet. Played a sloppy pass in lead to Armenia’s goal, but thankfully it didn’t matter in the end. Ran himself into the ground as per usual.
Callum McGregor 7
Another steady showing from the Celtic skipper on the international stage. Calm and composed, linked up well with Gilmour as his midfield partner.
Greg Taylor 7
Struggled first-half, like on other flank there was far too much space between the full-back and centre-back. Interchanged with Armstrong nicely. Floated lovely cross to back-post to Patterson in build-up to third goal.
Stuart Armstrong 9
Had some bright touches early on, showing some impressive close control. Produced great first-time finish when Scotland needed it most, composure personified. What a goal for his second. First, second and third touches all top drawer. Provided nice assist for Adams. Man of the match.
John McGinn 8
Captained the side in Andy Robertson’s absence. On receiving end of a headbutt which saw Armenia reduced to ten men. Notched with a lovely touch, then finishing on the spin inside the six-yard box. Was good to see him rested when game was all but finished.
Che Adams 8
Fluffed an overhead kick which inadvertently broke kindly for Armstrong to stroke the ball home. Been crying out for a goal the entire international break and he finally got one. Great play by Armstrong allowed striker in, as he cut inside to curl into far bottom corner.
Subs:
Anthony Ralston (for Patterson, 63’) 4
Another appearance for the right-back.
Lewis Ferguson (for Gilmour, 63’) 4
Tidy in possession.
David Turnbull (for McGinn, 63’) 4
Had couple of shots from distance blocked.
Jacob Brown (for Adams, 74’) 3
More international minutes for the forward.
Allan Campbell (for Hanley, 85’) 2
On for debut.
