The Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios has been charged with assaulting a former girlfriend, it has been reported by Australian media.
Sky News reported that the charge refers to an alleged assault of a former girlfriend that happened in December 2021.
Kyrgios is due to appear in court in Canberra next month, according to The Canberra Times.

Currently, Kyrgios is competing at the Wimbledon 2022 Championships, and made it into the Quarter Finals yesterday after defeating Brandon Nakashima in four sets.
An ACT Policing spokesperson in Canberra said: "ACT Policing can confirm a 27-year-old Watson man is scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates court on the 2nd of August in relation to one charge of common assault following an incident in December 2021."
The Canberra Times reports that it is understood that the charge relates to an allegation that the tennis star grabbed his former partner Chiara Passari.
It added that barrister Jason Moffett, from Key Chambers, confirmed to the paper he had been briefed on the matter and his client was aware of the charge.
Kyrgios is ranked number 40 in the world in men's singles tennis and has earnt a reputation as a skilled but hot-tempered player.
