Scintillating Celtic

THIS was seriously impressive. Celtic have looked slick already this season with a flawless start to the league season.

But in Dundee it was elevated with a ridiculous showing against a dejected and devoid of confidence United side.

After the match was halted in the early stages with Joe Hart taking a boot to the head it was Dundee United who took a real kicking. Thankfully, Hart could continue after staples to his head and a kit change - unfortunately for United it was a very long afternoon.

Kyogo Furuhashi's opener after 15 minutes set up a straight forward afternoon, even if United hadn't looked too bad. But after Kyogo's stunning second and a quick fire third for him and Jota netting before the break it was over.

The scoreline was stunning for Ange Postecoglou's side, but perhaps more pleasing was the tremendous build-up play all afternoon with United carved open time after time with clever runs and excellent defence-splitting passes.

They never stop

IT'S been the mantra of Postecoglou since his arrival, and in Dundee Celtic truly didn't stop.

With a four goal lead at the break the players could've easily put their feet up and cruised to victory. But they piled on the misery.

Just five minutes after the break and the goals were flowing again with Abada netting a double and Josip Juranovic in on the act before the hourmark.

It was a clear showing of the widespread belief in hard work and relentless effort in the Celtic ranks with the club determined to put on a show.

By the time Abada had bagged his hat-trick sealing effort it was EIGHT and a final ten minutes could be seen out with absolute ease.

But the attacking onslaught continued with Starfelt adding a ninth. It's not a bad days work when the only disappointment in the travelling support is not finding a tenth.

Frightening squad depth displayed

IT was bad enough for United with the 11 players that started the match for Celtic.

The problem was there was even more quality ready to come on off the bench for the reigning Scottish Premiership champions.

James Forrest, Daizen Maeda, Alexandro Bernabei, Aaron Mooy and David Turnbull. It's not a subs list many teams would be happy to see - especially not on an afternoon like today.

Look further into the Celtic squad and Moritz Jenz, James McCarthy, Benji Siegrist and Anthony Ralston all also possess the quality to perform for the club.

Giorgos Giakoumakis wasn't even in the squad through illness.

Postecoglou looks to have truly crafted a seriously deep squad of grit and talent capable of playing in his preferred style with incredible success.
