Chris Sutton reckons the 'we never stop' Ange Postecoglou mantra should be changed ahead of club football's resumption.

Celtic have not won in three matches with a Champions League draw against Shakhtar Donetsk sandwiched in between defeats to Real Madrid and St Mirren.

With the international break at an end and a hectic phase of domestic football about to get underway ahead of the World Cup, the former striker has offered a new catchphrase for Postecoglou and his men.

"We never stop is the mantra from Postecoglou but it should be 'we need to get restarted' after that slip at St Mirren prior to the international matches," Sutton wrote in the Daily Record.

"I’ve said Celtic could be excused an off-day and a defeat... maybe that was part of the problem in Paisley.

"Let’s face it, pretty much since he walked in the door, the manager’s team had been playing on the edge. They’ve been, by and large, going into every game knowing they couldn’t afford to make a mistake, especially in the Premiership.

"They were six points behind at this stage last season. Even then, every outing was a must-win and they played like it."

The Hoops face 13 matches in 43 days including Saturday's Premiership visit of Motherwell, with Sutton calling the stretch of games potentially 'make or break'.

"During this period last season Celtic managed those back-to-back triumphs over Ferencvaros which gave them a chance to get through their Europa League group," he said.

"It didn’t happen in the end, but now up the levels in the Champions League against RB Leipzig, it’s a similar set of circumstances. Home and away matches that could make or break their chances of progression to the knockout phase of the competition. There are no margins for error at Celtic."
