JURGEN KLOPP will warn Liverpool to be wary of the power of Ibrox and a rejuvenated Rangers in the re-run of their Champions League Battle of Britain.

The German saw his side run out comfortable 2-0 winners last week as a Trent Alexander-Arnold free-kick and Mohamed Salah penalty condemned Rangers to a third successive Group A defeat.

Boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst is banking on the Ibrox crowd inspiring his side on Matchday Four as Rangers target a result that will keep their European dreams alive this term.

And Klopp is well aware of what to expect as he prepares to take to the touchline in Govan for the first time and bids for another win over the Light Blues.

“Yes,” Klopp said when asked if he had to remind his players that this could be very different to Anfield. “But not because of European experience, but because we are human beings.

“The Champions League always has this middle tie when you play home and away against the same opponent. We have the situation quite frequently when we win the home game and then we go into the away game.

“Of course it is different. Do I have to? I don’t know. But I do yes.

“Surprised? We were not sure if they were four at the back or five at the back, that is one thing.

“Could have started with a different striker. It is just the line-up, not a surprise in that sense.

“I thought Rangers went for it and tried. They will go [for it again], it is completely different with the atmosphere. How often did we mention the power of Anfield?

“And I am sure you have the similar things when you talk about European nights and big league games. Football is about momentum. We know it will be a tricky game.”

Scotland captain Andy Robertson has returned to Klopp’s squad for the Rangers clash after several weeks out of action through injury but there will be no place for Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip or Luis Diaz.

Robertson is unlikely to start on his return to Glasgow and, when asked if the left-back had spoken to him about the Ibrox atmosphere, Klopp said: “He doesn’t have to. I watched, I don’t know how many, Old Firm games on television. 

“When they still had both fan groups allowed, I loved this game. Atmosphere wise I think most of the stadiums where I come first time I have never come as a supporter. 

“I know Andy Robertson played here with Dundee United and I’m sure the atmosphere then as well was outstanding. 

“All you have to do is put the light on and Ibrox is flying. Even when they play bad….”

Liverpool produced an imperious showing to see off Rangers last week and victory here would be another step towards a place in the knock-out rounds for the beaten finalists last term.

The Reds’ wretched Premier League form continued with a controversial 3-2 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend and both sides are in need of a performance and result at Ibrox.

Klopp said: “Now we lost the game and three players and that is obviously completely the opposite to what should have happened. But the only thing we can do is keep fighting and that is what we will do and everyone who wants to see it could see it.

“We fought against Arsenal really hard and that is what we will do [against Rangers] because we have to. Rangers, not only what Giovanni said in the press conference or interviews, want to put things right and get points in the Champions League group.

“They tried it with a defensive approach and five at the back and now they want to attack and go for it in a great atmosphere. I am really excited to experience that. It is a tough game in a different competition and that is what we have to do.”
