Michael Beale would seriously consider an approach by Rangers to become the club's manager.

That's the view of ex-Gers star Alan Hutton.

The former right-back reckons Beale could be on for a return to Ibrox should Giovanni van Bronckhorst be sacked in the coming weeks.

The Dutchman is under growing pressure from fans after his side slipped to nine points behind Celtic in the title race heading into the World Cup break.

On top of that, the unwanted tag of becoming the worst ever Champions League side was also obtained in recent weeks. 

Poor performances against Livingston, St Johnstone and St Mirren have done Van Bronckhorst no favours either.

While his future remains unclear at this time, speculation continues to grow as to who could possibly be in line to take over should a change of manager at Rangers be needed.

Beale is one of the names often banded about, with the highly regarded coach doing an impressive job in his first management gig at QPR.

He recently rejected an approach by Wolves, insisting he believes in the project at Loftus Road.

However, Hutton insists the former Gers first team coach would have to consider a return to Ibrox as the top dog of the club.

He told Football Insider: "I think it could. I think there is a possibility there.

“If you look from the outside in at Wolves, that is a very difficult job. At this moment in time they are at the bottom of the league. They are really struggling, they can’t score goals, that is a big task and a lot of pressure.

“Rangers is somewhere he knows, he knows most of the players. He has been used to that winning mentality when he has been there so I think it is something he would think long and hard about.

“It is maybe worth that change especially when you think of the European adventures. So I think it is something he would definitely seriously think about.“
