Michael Beale insists that Rangers cannot afford to splash the cash like Celtic do.

The Ibrox gaffer has watched Ange Postecoglou bring in several new recruits already this month ahead of his side's tilt at retaining the title.

Beale admits that Rangers 'don't spend the most money in the country'.

While he's a big admirer of the work Postecoglou has carried out at Parkhead since joining around 18-months-ago, the Englishman has pointed to the heavy backing the Australian has received from the club's chiefs.

He told the media: “We don’t spend the most money in this country.

“When we sat here last week and people were saying Celtic have made three, are you going to make three? No.

“We will make what we think but also they spend a lot more money than us. So Ange is a lucky man, because he has spent a lot of money.

“He’s a good coach, but he has spent a lot of money.

“I know who I want here and who maybe is free to go and who I’d like to move on.

“I know the areas I’d like to strengthen. I think it is going to take one, two, three windows to get who I want.

“There’s always players out there but you have to be careful they’re the right ones and they know exactly what they’re coming in and their role.

“They also have to know they’re coming into what I believe is a good team.

“It’s not about them. It’s about them coming and fighting to get into the team.

“You’re always in a good place as a football club if you can say to a player you’re bringing in — look, we’re a good team.

“As much as we’re bringing you in to improve us, we’re a good team already and you’re going to have hit the ground running to get in here, you might have to adjust.

“I think Jurgen Klopp is brilliant at that.

“I remember when Andy Robertson first signed for Liverpool, everyone was asking ‘where is he?’ because he didn’t play for a few weeks, he played Alberto Moreno.

“You come in, you have to adjust to the standards, you have to understand and you have to make the team stronger.

“That’s why I’m not looking for any short-termers.”
