Celtic have reportedly 'outbid' Mainz in the race to sign Cho Gue-sung.

It's been said today that the future of the South Korean striker has taken another turn.

It appeared that the 25-year-old looked set for a transfer to Germany, with Mainz tabling an offer which was said to be around £2.7million.

Now, Footabll Scotland claims that Celtic have officially entered the bidding war.

Their report states that the Hoops have submitted an offer worth more money for the Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors frontman.

It's said that this could rule Bundesliga side Mainz out of the race.

Ex-Manchester United ace Park Ji-Sung is in London leading negotiations on behalf of the K-League club as their technical director.

They were reluctant to let their star man go, but understand that his exit now seems inevitable.

Ange Postecoglou is a long-term admirer of the forward.

Meanwhile, Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis is a transfer target for J1 League side Urawa Red Diamonds, according to reports in Japan.

The 28-year-old Greek has been the subject of numerous reports linking him with a move away from Parkhead in recent weeks amid a lack of starting game-time with the champions.

Giakoumakis played the final half-hour of Celtic's 2-0 Premiership win over Kilmarnock on Saturday, striking both the post and the bar in an impressive outing.

Now Japanese outlet Sponichi states Urawa are 'moving to acquire' the striker from Parkhead.
