Todd Cantwell's path to Rangers has been cleared after a move to Blackburn Rovers was deemed a non-starter.
The 24-year-old is a player that Michael Beale rates very highly.
The Gers gaffer addressed his interest in the Norwich City midfielder following their 2-0 win over Dundee United on Sunday.
The Englishman was also asked about Everton's Tom Davies, with both players said to be on the radar of the Ibrox club for pre-contract moves.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that a Championship rival had made a £1.5million bid for Cantwell. It was later claimed that Blackburn had made the offer to Norwich, which was ultimately rejected.
However, the Lancashire Telegraph insists that such reports are "wide of the mark".

They state that Rovers would not pay such money for a player who has only six-months left to run on his contract at Carrow Road.
Instead, the report says that it's the "expectation" that Rangers will now make their move to sign Cantwell this month.
Clubs outside of England can speak with the Norwich star about a pre-contract that would take effect from the summer.
So far this season, the winger has made 19 appearances but has failed to score or register an assist.
He also hasn't featured since before the World Cup break.
