The kick-off time for this season's Viaplay Cup final has been confirmed.

Rangers will take on Celtic at Hampden for the first available trophy of the season.

The game will take place on Sunday, February 26 at the national stadium.

It will begin at 3pm in Glasgow's southside.

Ticket information for the game has yet to be announced, but the game will of course be shown live on TV by the competition's sponsor, Viaplay.

Celtic earned their spot in the showpiece event by beating Kilmarnock 2-0 on Saturday evening. 

In windswept conditions, the Hoops took an early lead through Daizen Maeda. The ball deflected off the Japanese striker at the back-post after the Killie defence failed to clear the danger from a lovely Aaron Mooy free-kick.

Ange Postecoglou's men were in control of the ball for the majority of the contest, however, Killie without question gave us good as they got. Derek McInnes' side had several chances to get at Celtic, but more often than not their final pass or finish let them down.

In stoppage time, Giorgos Giakoumakis sealed the Hoops' progression to the final with a tap-in from close-range.

The game wasn't without VAR controversy though, as Killie were denied a penalty after Giakoumakis appeared to foul Joe Wright inside the area. This happened moments before the Greek international added Celtic's second.

It was an entertaining game at Hampden. Celtic had the ball in the back of the net on two other occasions, but these strikes were ruled out for offside.

On Sunday, Rangers would go on to join the Hoops in the final. Michael Beale's side required extra-time against Aberdeen to secure their spot. 

Kemar Roofe netted after some good wing play by Scott Wright to ensure the Ibrox side's progression. The striker would later go off injured in what is another concern for Beale, though.

Bojan Miovski had the Dons in a first-half lead. Some quick thinking by Matty Kennedy, and ultimately poor defending by Rangers, saw the deadly striker in on goal, as he lobbed the ball over Allan McGregor.

After the break, the Light Blues ramped up the gears. Ryan Jack scored against his former club to level the score. 

Right before an additional 30-minutes, Dons skipper Anthony Stewart needlessly wiped out Fashion Sakala close to the by-line and was sent off. 

In further VAR chaos, the technology stopped working for the extra-time. It would eventually re-establish itself, though. 

Some pundits and fans questioned why Ryan Kent's incident with Liam Scales wasn't reviewed.

Rangers would go on to make that extra man count and ensure that the Viaplay Cup final would be a derby contest.
