Celtic midfielder Scott Robertson is set for a move to English League One side Fleetwood Town, according to a report from the Daily Record.

The newspaper claims the 21-year-old has "completed a medical" at the club after he was told there would be no contract extension offered by the Hoops in the summer.

It is a deal that would see the Lennoxtown academy graduate reunite with former Parkhead captain Scott Brown, who is currently in charge of The Cods.

Fleetwood currently sit 17th in the third tier of English football.

Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou recently addressed speculation surrounding the midfielder, in which he expressed his frustration at Robertson speaking to the press about his future at the club.

He said: "I don't think he should be calling things himself in the papers. Aside from that, Scott is one of these players who have been here for a very long time as a young kid and they all have dreams and aspirations to play for this club.

"Sometimes circumstance and timing doesn't work out but that doesn't mean they can't have a meaningful career.

"My advice to Scott and all the other young players is that ultimately it's about having everything they've invested in and their families into having a football career, that they see that out.

"Sometimes it's about opportunity and going to a place you'll play more because once you reach a certain age the next stage of development is from playing."

The midfielder has had recent loan spells at Gillingham, Doncaster Rovers and Crew Alexandria.

He has not featured competitively for the Hoops this season and played just 15 minutes for the Scottish champions during the Sydney Super Cup in November.
