Celtic fans wasted no time in rubbing salt into the wounds of Rangers today after their Viaplay Cup triumph on Sunday.

A deadly double from Kyogo was enough for Ange Postecoglou's side to emerge 2-1 winners in the League Cup final showpiece at Hampden.

It was joy for the Hoops, as they celebrated their third trophy under the Australian's tenure to date.

On the flip side, it was despair for the Ibrox club, who lost their first game under the management of Michael Beale.

The Gers staff and players didn't hang about to watch Celtic lift the trophy, as they went straight down the tunnel and back to the changing rooms after collecting their runners-up medals.

While it has been party central over in the green & white half of the city,  unsurprisingly, it has been quiet in the blue half.

On the Light Blues' Twitter account since full-time, post match interviews with both Beale and captain James Tavernier have been posted. They were both uploaded yesterday.

Today, there has only been one communication on the social media app from the official Rangers account.

And this was a happy birthday message to Gers duo Todd Cantwell and Ryan Jack.

Just after 9am, Rangers tweeted: "Happy Birthday, Ryan Jack & Todd Cantwell."

Jack, now 31, and Cantwell, 25, both appeared as substitutes midway through the second half in the derby defeat.

And Hoops fans certainly didn't miss a beat when it came to taking the mickey out of the Ibrox club over their social media post.

Accompanied by a phot of Kyogo holding the League Cup, one replied: "Happy birthday lads."

Another did the same, this time with a snap of Cameron Carter-Vickers holding a beer.

A third wrote: "Did you get anything nice?"

And one witty Hoops fan responded: "A silver necklace."

Another added: "Wee day off for them yesterday. Nice touch from Beale."

One account posted: "Rangers football club, thank you!"

And a seventh, who posted a short clip of Callum McGregor lifting the trophy, said: "Many happy returns."

Several Rangers supporters were left less than impressed by the tweet, as their replies flooded in too.

One reply said: "Too soon... way too soon."

Another added: "Happy?"

A third said: "A nice birthday gift would have been to start them yesterday. Just saying."

Similarly, a fourth said: "Would have been better if they had started."

And another added: "Surprised you didn’t take another 65 minutes to wish them happy birthday. Awful."
