Former Rangers goalkeeper Cammy Bell expects some major squad changes at Ibrox over the summer.

Michael Beale's side were defeated by Celtic in the League Cup final last weekend as a Kyogo Furuhashi double separated the teams.

Bell watched on and he was disappointed with the performance of his old team, and he reckons a squad overhaul is needed to compete with Ange Postecoglou's men.

He told GO Radio: "In that starting team I wouldn't expect there to be more than four players still in the starting team next season. I look at Allan McGregor, and he is probably going to finish.

"James Tavernier will still be in the starting XI, and Connor Goldson. Ben Davies I don't think so, and Borna Barisic there is always questions marks on big occasions over him, so that is a bit question mark.

"Tillman, is he going to be there? I don't know. Lundstram, I don't think he would be a starting player for a Rangers team that is going to win the league. Same with Kamara.

"Morelos, we don't know what is happening with him. Sakala, again for me, not a starter. Ryan Kent; I would keep him as a starter if we could."

Former striker Kenny Miller had a differing opinion when he appeared on Sky Sports News earlier this week.

"I think rebuild is way too strong," he said. "Rangers are a good squad, they've got a lot of strength and depth.

"Michael Beale will always look to put his own stamp on it, he's already started that with the two additions in January.

"I would imagine another three or four will come in the summer and there will be people who will move out as well.

"He's already said the squad needs trimmed, there are too many players there which even on a day-to-day situation becomes maybe unmanageable for training.

"He'll definitely have not a rebuild, but there will be maybe a refresh of the squad in the summer."

Miller also now turned to the Scottish Cup as a huge competition for his former side.

"The league was already done so all focus has to go on getting right back on it and build towards the Scottish Cup at the end of the season because I think that becomes paramount now," he added.

"Cup finals are super important to both teams. It's a chance to win a trophy and I just had the feeling maybe Rangers would have wanted it that little bit more.

"Going into the last third of the season, I don't think Rangers fans are going to accept not winning trophies anymore.

"This Scottish Cup becomes so, so important that Rangers get to the final and they retain the trophy at the start of June."
