Eric Wynalda reckons there will be tears amongst the Celtic support if Cameron Carter-Vickers is ever to exit the club for the Premier League.
The American has been a huge performer under Ange Postecogloy and a mainstay in the Hoops defence, since he arrived from Tottenham.
USA legend Wynalda has been impressed by Carter-Vickers from afar and he reckons his performances will be catching the attention of some top clubs.
He told The Action Network: "Watching Cameron this year, and last for that matter, has been amazing. His performances have earned him the captains band as well as multiple Man of the match awards and team of the week selections.
"At 25 years old the question really is where would be the next step for his career. Celtic is a massive club and for a guy who has finally found a home after multiple loan stints, it might be very hard for him leave at this point.
"He is truly loved at Celtic and the mainstay of the defensive line. If he leaves, there will be tears. The supporters will not want to lose him but will have to understand. Cameron will need to make sure he is not put into another situation like Spurs however. The club never committed to him.
"He needs a club that wants him as much as Celtic but would be the appropriate step up in level to impress the new US manager. Tough situation."
Meanwhile, Celtic midfielder Sead Haksabanovic is thriving under the pressure of meeting the demands for trophy success in Glasgow.
The Montenegro international got his first piece of silverware last month when he helped Celtic beat Rangers in the Viaplay Cup final, and his spectacular goal wrapped up a 3-1 win over Hearts on Wednesday which maintained their nine-point lead in the cinch Premiership.
The champions now turn their attention to the Scottish Cup when they take on Hearts in the quarter-finals at Tynecastle on Saturday.
The Swedish-born former Rubin Kazan and West Ham player said: “When I came to Celtic it was a winning spirit because it’s so important that you win here. You can feel that when you come in. I love it.
“You want to be the best you can be and you have to have that mentality.”
Celtic showed that mentality in the Viaplay Cup final and Haksabanovic said: “It was amazing. I loved every second of the game. I only heard our fans, though, but that’s another thing, and I loved it.”
