Kris Boyd has admitted 'something has to happen quickly' after Rangers fans staged a huge protest against Stewart Robertson and Ross Wilson.

The Ibrox managing director and sporting director were targeted by fans at Fir Park by disgruntled supporters ahead of the match against Motherwell.

Supporters held aloft flyers with the words 'Time for change' along with scored out images of Robertson and Wilson.

Before kick-off, Sky Sports footage captured the moment hundreds of fans joined the protest as a 'Time for change' banner and larger shots of Robertson and Wilson were draped in the away end.

Boyd can understand fan frustration over a perceived lack of progress since the Scottish Premiership triumph in 2021 - as he cited the difference in Celtic's fortunes from when they were "low as a snake's belly".

And the popular Ibrox pundit conceded something to remedy the situation is going to have to happen soon.

On Sky Sports, he reacted: "When they won the league you would have expected them to kick on, it felt as if there was an opportunity there.

"Celtic were as low as a snake's belly at that point in time as well but they were able to turn it round so quickly.

"Rangers have said 'we are going to change and going to do this' but it's not really happened at this point in time.

"I think when it gets to this stage and fans are frustrated they'll then start to have a go at the board.

"It's very difficult to stop it because it seems to be growing by the week.

"You look at Stewart Robertson, Ross Wilson, you are going to be judged. Especially Ross in terms of the recruitment side of it and it's not been good enough.

"There has to be some accountability. The fans are frustrated, you just hope there are ways you can protest and it's peaceful. You don't want to see anything happening where the games get stopped or incidents outside the grounds.

"You can understand the frustration, they pay a lot of money but so do the other people who will not take part in the protest. They've paid their money as well to watch the game of football.

"If there is a protest and it is to happen then I hope it goes peacefully.

"But there is no doubt something is going to have to happen and happen quickly."
