A new angle has captured the furious reaction of Celtic fans as Steven Gerrard scored a penalty for Liverpool yesterday.

The former Rangers manager turned out for his old club in a legends clash at Anfield and he opened the scoring from the spot.

After slotting his penalty Gerrard made a beeline for the visiting supporters and he goaded them before being a target of cups and bottles.

"It was definitely a penalty," admitted Gerrard at full-time. "Martin Skrtel's excellent - bursting through like a marauding midfielder. Stonewall penalty.

"There was only one taker from there and that's me, in front of the Celtic fans. A little bit of pressure, I waited for [the goalkeeper Artur Boruc] to go, and you have to milk it. I've had so much stick off them so they can have a bit back. There you go.

"It [the fundraiser] wouldn't be so successful without the support of the fans, and to be fair to Celtic - they turned up in their numbers today. It's been a really enjoyable day."

Gary McAllister, who was Gerrard's assistant manager at Ibrox, also thanked the Celtic fans. He said: "It's a fantastic thing that Celtic brought 4,000 all the way down from Scotland to come and support the foundation. It supports Celtic's foundation as well."

Now footage has emerged from the away end of Gerrard's penalty and fans can be seen gesturing and shouting at the former Ibrox boss.

A warning, some of the language and hand gestures in the footage may cause offence.

Around 4,000 Celtic fans made the trip to Anfield for the charity clash, which was raising funds for LFC foundation and the Celtic Foundation.

Meanwhile, Glen Kamara is disappointed not to be coming up against Rangers teammate Steven Davis when Finland take on Northern Ireland in a Euro 2024 qualifier on Sunday.

Davis has travelled to Belfast to join the Northern Ireland team but is out with a long-term knee injury after suffering a double ACL tear in December.

Former Arsenal player Kamara, 27, said Davis had been a huge help to him since they both moved to Ibrox in January 2019.

“I’ve been with him for four years now, he’s helped me a lot in my journey,” said Kamara, who is in line to earn his 50th cap on Sunday. “He’s a great midfielder, we call him maestro at the club. He’s a great professional and hopefully he gets back soon.”
