Strum Graz sports director Andreas Schicker has assured Celtic they have yet to make a decision on whether they will turn Albian Ajeti's loan move into a permanent one.

Reports this week suggested that the Austrian club would send the former West Ham striker back to Glasgow because he was too injury-prone.

The Swiss international moved on the last day of the summer transfer window with Sturm Graz securing him on a season-long loan with an option to buy him permanently for £2.1 million.

Ajeti cost Celtic £5 million in 2020 from West Ham, but he only managed to score eight league goals in two seasons and had no future under Ange Postecoglou.

However, he will still have a year left on his contract if and when he returns to Scotland.
Now Schicker has insisted no decision has yet been made on the future of the 26-year-old, who scored for Sturm Graz on his last game against Swarovski Wattens before the international break - his first goal since October.

He said: "We still have time until just after the end of the season to take up the option of buying him.

"And we certainly won't let ourselves be stressed about it now.

"We'll wait for the remaining games in the championship group and then make a decision.

"Until then, we will be in constant contact with his advisor in order to constantly reassess the situation."
