Ally McCoist has blasted VAR in Scotland as "absolutely embarrassing" after Rangers had a goal chopped off against Celtic this afternoon.

Around the 20-minute mark, Alfredo Morelos thought he'd scored as he touched the ball into the net after a Gers corner.

However, as the striker wheeled away to celebrate, referee Kevin Clancy sounded his whistle for a foul.

The man in charge adjudged the Colombian to have fouled Celtic defender Alistair Johnston as the ball was floated into the box.

The call appeared to be highly contentious, with both players grappling with each other.

And McCoist let rip at VAR official Nick Walsh in the aftermath of the decision, which was backed up by the video assistant.

"Honest to goodness, it is absolutely embarrassing the way we are running VAR. Absolutely embarrassing. We are a laughing stock.

"He gives him a little nudge. Nick, what are you seeing, son."

Fellow co-commentator Andy Walker felt similar to McCoist, insisting that there was no obvious foul in the build-up to the goal.

He added: "I think if that's at the other end, everyone is wanting a goal. It's six and half a dozen."
