Danny Armstrong has warned Celtic they shouldn't expect an easy game when they rock up to Rugby Park on Sunday lunchtime.

Kilmarnock host the champions this weekend in their final home match before the Premiership split. 

Derek McInnes' side have been very impressive on their own patch this season, amassing a whopping 93 percent of their 28 points in Ayrshire.

However, with Celtic coming to town on Sunday, it would be fair to say their home record will be put to the toughest of tests by Ange Postecoglou's side. 

On their last visit to Killie in August, the Hoops put five past Sam Walker, with no reply from those in blue and white stripes.

But Celtic, along with Livingston and Rangers, are the only teams to have walked away from Rugby Park with all three points this season. 

And Armstrong believes Killie can take belief from that statistic heading into the game.

"We're looking forward to it, it's going to be a good challenge," Armstrong told Sky Sports. 

"As you know Celtic, they're flying at the moment, but coming here isn't easy and we'll hope to make it as hard as possible for them.

"Everybody knows what our home form has been like and how well we play at home. The boys will take confidence from that going into the game.

"We play really well here and it'll be good to get Celtic here. We've not played them here since the first month of the season.

"It'll be good to get them now that we're all the way through the season and see what we can do."

Killie are embroiled in a survival battle at the bottom of the league alongside Ross County and Dundee United, with St Johnstone not out of the woods yet either.

Depending on other results this weekend, McInnes' outfit could be bottom of the table by the time they kick off against Celtic. 

But the 25-year-old is adamant there's no point in looking for favours when their destiny is still in their own hands.

He added: "We just need to focus on ourselves and not look at the other teams around us. 

"You can look at that after games are finished but we need to focus on us and look to get as positive a result as we can. If we take care of ourselves then we'll be okay."

Armstrong has been Killie's best player by some distance this season. 

The former Wolves kid has 10 goals and eight assists in all competitions to his name so far. 

While he's been on red hot form personally, he admits he'd swap it all for Killie to be safe from relegation straight back to the Championship come the summer.

He said: "Absolutely. On a personal note, it's been good but it's all about the team. It's all about keeping this team in the league. 

"If I can contribute, then it can only help the team. That's what it's all about. It's not about my personal achievements."
