David Webb was quick to shut down speculation that he could join Celtic as a sporting director.

The former Bournemouth head of recruitment immediately played down the links when appearing on talkSPORT this morning.

The 45-year-old appeared on the show with Jim White and Simon Jordan.

He was quizzed after it emerged that he'd been previously suggested for a role in the football hierarchy at Parkhead.

His body of work today has seen him employed by the likes of Tottenham, Huddersfield Town, Ostersund, and York City, where he was the manager.

Pressed by White live on air, the transfer guru was adamant that he was unaware of speculation linking him with a job north of the border.

However, Webb also refused to kill the story stone dead.

White asked: “Have you held talks with Celtic?”

Webb replied: “No, not yet."

White continued: “I know your name has been linked with Celtic as a potential new sporting director, you’re aware of that.”

Smiling, Webb said: “No, no, no.”

White: “You’ll fold under questioning.”

And the conversation ended with Webb stating: “No honestly, I’m not aware of it at all.”
