Ange Postecoglou may have jumped at the chance to join Tottenham Hotspur earlier this week.

However, the 57-year-old reportedly knocked back three different approaches to leave Celtic for the Premier League this season.

The Australian signed a four-year deal with the North London club on Tuesday, a matter of days after he guided the Hoops to their eighth treble.

The Scottish Cup success also secured his fifth trophy out of six during his two years spent in Glasgow.

Nearly all Celtic fans have been left devastated by his departure, with some a little upset with Postecoglou himself over his decision.

But it could have been very different this season, as Postecoglou could well have left mid-season which he is said to have had ample opportunity to do.

Australian media outlet Keep Up reports that Brighton, Wolves, and Southampton each made an approach for Postecoglou over the last nine months.

The report states that the boss and his agent Frank Trimboli rejected each of them as the focus firmly remained on delivering success for Celtic on the pitch.

Brendan Rodgers was heavily criticised for the way he left the Hoops for Leicester City in February 2019 prior to the end of the season. Most will appreciate Postecoglou's commitment until the finish line.

However, attention has very much turned to who will take over in the Parkhead hotseat, with Rodgers and Enzo Maresca among the favourites for the job.
