Rangers face fresh competition from European clubs for the signature of Bordeaux striker Josh Maja as Michael Beale’s rebuild at Ibrox continues.
The former Sunderland attacker is said to be on Beale’s wish-list as the Englishman looks to add more attacking reinforcements to his squad after Sam Lammers joined in a £3.5million move from Atalanta earlier this month.
Maja chipped in with 17 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions last term and the forward is attracting interest with his contract in France set to expire.
Rangers are believed to be weighing up a move for the striker but they are not the only club considering a move for Maja, with English Premier League outfit Fulham, Anderlecht of Belgium and Spain’s Real Valladolid also reportedly interested in securing the 24-year-old on a free transfer.
Dutch outlet Voetbal Nieuws report that Anderlecht, who previously showed an interest in Maja two years ago, are once again considering a move for the Englishman, with the report also crediting Rangers, Fulham and Valladolid with an interest in signing the player this summer.
Beale has already started to reshape his squad at Ibrox. Midfield duo Nico Raskin and Todd Cantwell arrived in January and there have been further new arrivals in the close season as goalkeeper Jack Butland, full-back Dujon Sterling, midfielder Kieron Dowell and striker Sam Lammers sealed moves of their own.
Long-serving players such as Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield have all moved on after their contracts expired at the end of the season, while a number of first-team players’ futures are up in the air at Ibrox.
