Carl Starfelt is set to undergo a medical ahead of his switch to Celta Vigo.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has today confirmed that the defender is on his way to Spain.
The Swedish defender last week made it clear that he saw his future away from the Scottish champions.
And it would appear a deal between the Hoops and the La Liga outfit will go through sooner rather than later.
Rodgers told Sky Sports: "He's travelled for a medical but there's nothing confirmed as of yet on that. But we do expect it to go through. He's been a great servant to the club. I understand and the club understands his position.
"But it's no great secret. Sometimes, players come into here - Carl had been here for two years - and it's happened over the last number of years, that players have been here for two or three years and they move on.
"They don't necessarily move on to leave Celtic, it's usually to move on to a bigger league, as such.
"For him to get the chance to go and play in La Liga at this stage of his career, the service he provided was great for Celtic. He's a good guy and we wish him all the best if it goes through."
Gustaf Lagerbielke has been heavily linked with a move to Celtic as a result.
Elfsborg chief Stefan Andreasson revealed that they had opened dialogue with the Hoops over a potential deal, although no offer was on the table at that point.
It's reported that a fee of around £3million will be required for the Swedish club to sell the centre-back.
The 23-year-old admits it's "fun" to be touted for moves to such big clubs, and that joining Celtic would be an "honour".

But Rodgers was far more coy on the subject of Starfelt's replacement.
He added: "Nothing really to tell. There have been various reports on various players.
"Clearly, when there's a sign that we might lose a player, we have to look at other options to bring people in. We'll announce it when the player is signed and sealed and speak more on it then."
