After Rangers' hefty Champions League play-off loss to PSV, it seems Celtic are in line for an even larger financial boost.

With only one Scottish team representing the Premiership in the 2023/24 competition, Celtic are due to pocket a bigger slice of the TV money available.

Football Scotland states that the Parkhead club are set to rake in an additional £2.5m in television revenue off the back of Rangers' defeat in Eindhoven.

Michael Beale's side could not repeat their heroics in The Netherlands last August and instead, this season, they will play in the Europa League.

The aforementioned figure is the amount Celtic earned from their six group stage matches last season. Rangers of course pocketed the same.

However, this term, all of that cash will go straight into the Parkhead coffers. 

It's believed the Scottish champions are guaranteed 10 per cent of the allocated total of UK TV pool money.

TV pool payments account for 15 percent of all finances distributed by UEFA to Champions League clubs.

So, that means Celtic will be due £5m this year, doubling the amount earned in TV money from last season.

Every win in the Champions League earns a club £2.4m while a draw rakes in £775k.

It comes as Borna Barisic emerged as a major injury doubt for Rangers ahead of Sunday's derby match at Ibrox.

The defender hobbled off versus PSV around the 50-minute mark. He was replaced by Dujon Sterling.
