Ange Postecoglou has delivered a perfect response to Jim White as he was quizzed on how far he can take Tottenham Hotspur.
The Aussie boss has made an instant impact at Spurs and has been shortlisted for the Premier League manager of the month award for August.
Tottenham fans have been hugely impressed by Postecoglou's impact and they can already see the style of play their new manager is trying to implement.
Asked what he thinks is the ceiling for the club, Postecoglou told talkSPORT:
"I don't like ceilings, I don't like floors, I don't like anything that limits what you can do in life.
"From my perspective let's see where it can take us.
"When I started this off 26 years ago, I left the bank to become a manager, I can tell you there was probably plenty of ceilings that were put before me then.
"I don't work that way. For me it is about getting this club to the levels that I believe it deserves to be.
“There have been no real surprises, it’s football.
“The challenges are expected everything time I walk into a role – there’s a reason why i’m here, if things are going well i wouldn’t be here.
“My eyes are wide open and I expected it to be tough, but we’ve had an encouraging start.”
On his decision to leave Celtic for Spurs, he continued: “I love a challenge, I’ve done it my whole career. Every step along the way when I’ve decided to move I’ve moved on the back of success.
“The fact this is one of the biggest clubs in the world that hasn’t had success for a very long time and was coming off the back of a poor season, that was a key driver for me.
“When you go into a challenge like that you want to leave a mark and make an impact. That’s the biggest thing for me, the opportunity here to create something.
“The challenge is for me the same everywhere, to get the team to play a certain kind of football that gives fans something excited about on a weekly basis and bring success to the club. That’s the reason behind what I do.
“Success for me is winning things, but it’s not a desperation, because that’s not sustainable. For me the foundation of it is just to play the game a certain way which I hope will win things but also excites the punters.
“I’m not in this job desperate to win something just to win something, I want this club to win something on a yearly basis, and there’s a difference.
“I want to win every game, trust me, but I don’t want to win something for the sake of winning something. I want sustainable success and make sure fans are enjoying watching the team play football.
“It’s not my place to talk about the past and other managers because I dont think it’s fair.
“The winning mentality is you come in every day and you want to be the best you can be. There is not a manager or player on this planet who does not want to win.
“But my thing is it’s not just about winning, it’s about the way we play, I’ve said that since i got here and the players have been open to that.
“When we get to where we want to by playing how we want to, the winning should take care of itself.”
