Celtic started their UEFA Youth League campaign off with a defeat against Feyenoord in Rotterdam.

Rocco Vata almost gave the Hoops an early lead after he attempted to dink the goalkeeper, which the shot-stopper was forced to tip over the bar.

Kai McLean then prevented Feyenoord from going in front on a couple of occasions with some strong saves.

The game was evenly balanced up until the 40-minute mark when the hosts opened the scoring from close range through right-back Givairo Read.

After going into the break 1-0 down, the visitors they conceded two minutes into the second half as winger Jaden Slory fired home.

Celtic continued to put pressure on the opposition backline but to no avail and then than 10 minutes later the game was killed as a contest as Antoni Milambo scored Feyenoord's third with a smart finish into the bottom corner.

Vata nearly pulled back a consolation goal for Stephen McManus and Darren O'Dea's side after he went around the goalkeeper with 15 minutes to play, but the Feyenoord defender did well to recover and block the attempt.

The hosts saw the game out comfortably in the end. Celtic's next fixtures comes against Lazio on Wednesday, October October 4.
