Stuart Kettlewell has detailed how he is taking inspiration from Kilmarnock's victory over Celtic in the League Cup ahead of the visit of the Scottish champions.

The Fir Park club face Brendan Rodgers' side in the next round of league fixtures and the 39-year-old feels the Ayrshire team have provided a blueprint of how to beat the top two in the division.

And he reckons there is a way to unsettle the visitors. "I saw Kilmarnock beat Celtic live and I thought they deserved it and executed their game plan to a tee," he said.

"It wasn’t a fluke. They were structured, organised and carried a threat. You need to be all those things to get a result against Rangers or Celtic.

"Michael Beale and Brendan Rodgers will say their team wasn’t at its best and there was a transition of players or an injury crisis.

They were two terrific results and it shows you what is achievable if you get it right.

“There’s been a lot of talk about what it takes to play for a club like Rangers or Celtic, due to the demands of the supporters. I never did it.

"We’ll always talk about trying to make the opposition make substitutes, which suggests we’re doing something right. If you hear boos then, of course, we’ll try to feed off that too.”
