Rangers' players will have a say in the eventual location of Rangers' singing section at Ibrox, CEO James Bisgrove has revealed.
The Union Bears 'Ultras' group has been housed in the front of the Broomloan stand for years but have been looking to move to their original location in the Copland Road Stand. They are understood to want to move to a section of the ground where they can have more impact. A relocation to another area of the Broomloan is complicated by security complications over its close proximity to away fans.
Numerous trials have taken place with the section moved around the stadium to test the atmosphere and the club have been talking directly to fans that may be affected.
And in a move that shows the importance Bisgrove is placing on ensuring everyone is being consulted, the players have also been included in dialogue about the next step.
He said: "We've asked the first team to give us feedback in terms of the different locations of the signing section. If that has an impact for them, the atmosphere, the connection with the fans, because Ibrox is a fortress because of the atmosphere. We've seen it in so many games and one of the objectives we have is to intensify and amplify that as best as possible. The players will have a stake in that decision.
"We are considering the trials of the singing section that have taken place. I think we have had four trials now and we have been gathering the feedback from all supporters. We've also been gathering feedback from the first team and we've had consultation sessions with supporters who are in different sections of the stadium if we were to move the current singing section from BF1."
The consultation process has been going on for some time but Bisgrove moved to assure fans a final decision is imminent.
He said: "We're on track, we're progressing our research so that at the next board meeting, we can present our recommendation. But we are doing that aligned to the infrastructure projects that are happening next summer, in view of the disabled facilities that are being installed and the cantilevers in the Copeland and Broomloan Stands. It's quite a complex picture in terms of the infrastructure, but we are completing the process in terms of the supporter consultation."
