Former Rangers boss Michael Beale has deactivated his Twitter account after liking a post about his Ibrox record.

The Englishman was axed as manager last month after a string of poor results both in Europe and domestically.

Beale was ultimately relieved of his duties after losing three of the opening seven Premiership games after many of his nine summer signings struggled to hit the ground running.

This week Steven Gerrard's former assistant liked a post about his record as manager. It read: “Rangers were very consistent under Beale. In fact, we’ve never had a manager win so consistently in our 150 year history.

“Did the team struggle at the start of the season? Yes. It had just been assembled, and then it was hit with an injury crisis.

“This team could well be great.”

After liking the post Beale appears to have deactivated his account with a number of Rangers fans highlighting his Twitter exit on the social media platform.

Beale took to Instagram after he was relieved of his Ibrox duties. He said: "Thank you @rangersfc to everyone behind the scenes at the training ground and Ibrox, to the board, staff, fans and all the players. I will always follow and support the club from afar and wish you every success.

"Now is the time for everyone to unite fully behind Steven Davis and the team in the coming games.

"There is still so much to play for this season and I have a strong belief in this group of players. Thank you and good luck."
