Former Celtic defender Mark Wilson insists Jose Cifuentes "will lose" his red card appeal after being dismissed against Dundee.

The Rangers midfielder was sent off by Kevin Clancy after a VAR review for catching Amadou Bakayoko late in the challenge.

He was originally booked before the decision was upgraded to a red. The Ibrox side have decided to appeal the incident which will be heard by a fast-track tribunal on Tuesday.

But Wilson feels the appeal will be in vain. Speaking on Clyde One Superscoreboard, he said: "I would play Cifuentes on Thursday and I'd keep my main players for Sunday's game, so I think he will play.

"But it's who goes in there on Sunday for Rangers if their appeal fails, which I think it will.

"There's not much to pick from in that area."

Meanwhile, Rangers hero Ally McCoist has poked fun at Celtic after their defeat to Kilmarnock.

The Ibrox side cut the gap at the top of the table to five points after their victory over Dundee and McCoist was in a good mood on talkSPORT.

He took delight in poking fun at the "ridiculous" amount of time added on the fixture at Rugby Park.

"We’ve had a text from a Rangers fan asking if the Celtic v Killie game has finished yet," he said.

“There were about 11 minutes added time. Some of the kids had to leave early because they had school in the morning.

"It was ridiculous.”
