Wantaway Celtic defender Gustaf Lagerbielke has opened up on his frustrations over the collapse of his proposed move to Lecce.

The Swedish international, 23, insists it's a dream of his to play in Serie A.

Yesterday it emerged that the £3m defender's loan switch to the Italian side had fallen through. 

This is because the Scottish champions pulled the plug on the deal due to their ongoing injury concerns regarding Cameron Carter-Vickers.

Lagerbielke is behind the Amercian, Liam Scales, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh in the Parkhead pecking order for the centre-back position. There have been several occasions this season that he's not even made Brendan Rodgers' matchday squad.

It's been clear for a while that, despite only being six months into his spell at Celtic Park, he would be best to move on this month.

However, with that now not seemingly happening, the defender has gone public in the Italian media to state that he wants the move.

He told Tuttomercatoweb: “Lecce has shown a very strong interest in me. I want to go, play and make a difference.

"All footballers dream of playing in the big leagues. And I have dreamed of Serie A since I was a child.

"Many Scandinavian footballers have played in Lecce, this would be an advantage in terms of settling in."

Meanwhile, Chris Sutton has sent Celtic a transfer warning over a potential move for Norwich striker Adam Idah.

The Irish forward, 22, is reportedly close to a loan move to Parkhead for the remainder of the season.

The Daily Record claims Celtic are nearing a loan deal with an option to sign the attacker on a permanent deal.

It's thought Celtic could land the striker this month despite interest from England and Europe.
