Kris Boyd has warned Aberdeen chiefs 'someone needs to get a grip of the football club'.
Barry Robson was sacked by Dave Cormack this week following a poor Premiership campaign to date.
The Dons sit eighth in the table, however, do have games in hand on the teams above them. They take on Celtic at Pittodrie today.
It's believed Neil Warnock could be drafted in as an interim replacement for Robson. The 75-year-old could agree a deal until the end of the season.
But that has left Rangers hero Boyd perplexed as to why that's the route Aberdeen are required to go down.
"I think Neil Lennon is someone who has done well over the years," he told Sky Sports pre-match. "Would he be a good fit for Aberdeen? Yes. But from what we're hearing, Aberdeen wants to appoint an interim manager. I don't quite know why they've got to that stage.
"It comes down to one thing - if you win games of football you keep your job. It doesn't matter how you play.
"Aberdeen, where they are in the league at this moment of time, is a disgrace. You can blame Europe and things like that, but there's been games in there. I listened to Barry last week saying the players looked leggy and tired, they'd just had a two-week winter break. It's impossible to be leggy and tired.
"Aberdeen as a football club needs to get a grip of this situation. Dave Cormack, if you got right back to the start, Derek McInnes was here for a long period of time. Whether it was coming to an end or not is irrelevant, the way it was handled was wrong.
"I look at Dave Cormack and I think he wants to control everything, and rightly so, he's the owner. You're then looking at Alan Burrows and Steven Gunn, what are they bringing to the table?

"Derek's left under these circumstances too, then there's been there's been three managers sacked at the end of January/beginning of February where they've had a transfer window. There have been two heads of recruitment leave in that time too.
"Where are Aberdeen going as a football club? When Barry came in last season as an interim, he got results then they were forced to give him the job. If someone comes in and does well then they'll be forced to give them the job.
"Looking at it, Aberdeen have now played Hearts three times. Today will be the third time they've played Celtic. They play Rangers on Tuesday night, the other big team in Scotland is Hibs, they play them in a couple of weeks' time. The last eight games are against teams where they should be winning.
"So, whoever comes in, they're going to win games of football, or they should win games of football. Are they going to look at that narrow period of games to then judge their manager going forward?
"Barry Robson had been under pressure since November basically. Since the end of Europe all we've heard is 'This could be Barry's last game,' why has there not been a succession plan at Aberdeen Football Club to replace the manager?
"I know people are going to say 'Oh it's Boydy having a laugh at Aberdeen again, we're a big football club,' why have they not had a succession plan for the next manager?
"Barry has been under pressure since November. They shouldn't need an interim manager at a big football club like Aberdeen. The situation they've got themselves into, the money they've spent, yes they've sold players and reinvested it, but it's been miles off it.
"Somebody is going to have to get a grip of this football club and get a grip of it pretty soon."
