Anthony Gordon insists playing for Scotland was never an option for him as he dream has always been to turn out for England.
The Newcastle United winger is in Gareth Southgate's A team squad ahead of their two friendly matches against Brazil and Belgium.
He's in line to make his first appearance for the Three Lions aged 23.
Steve Clarke is known to be an admirer of the former Everton attacker, with the play eligible to play for Scotland via the grandparent rule.
However, with Gordon training with England, it seems he's ready for his first national team cap - a moment he's been craving all his life.
“It was never a thought for me," he said. "That’s no disrespect to Scotland, that’s all. I’ve been tunnel-visioned on playing for England since I was five or six years old.
"Nothing could ever shake that off. I could never forgive myself if I hadn’t got to this point.
"Like I said, it is just a dream I’ve had from so young so nothing else has ever entered my mind at any time.”
Gordon isn't the only English talent that Scottish FA spies have had their eyes on.
His teammates Elliot Anderson, Harvey Barnes and Tino Livramento can all turn out in dark blue colours at Hampden too. Of course, Anderson was called up to Clarke's squad in September before dropping out.

Assistant John Carver insists it's unlikely there will be any wildcard picks in Scotland's Euro 2024 squad.
He said: “I would be very surprised because loyalty is massive. We are almost settled on what we are going to take away. I would be very surprised if somebody comes out from nowhere.
"We are more or less settled. Unless we find somebody who is like ‘wow’, an outstanding player. I am not going to go down this street of Anderson and Gordon and all this lot because I have had enough of that, I am sick of talking about that."
