Brendan Rodgers will go before the Scottish FA's legal team following recent comments made by the Celtic manager.

The 51-year-old branded SFA officials Don Robertson and John Beaton 'incompetent' following the champions' 2-0 loss at Hearts earlier this month.

His outburst came in relation to Yang's red card for a high boot on Alex Cochrane, as well as a penalty awarded to the Jambos for a controversial Tomoki Iwata handball decision.

Rodgers is facing a minimum of a two-game ban if found guilty by the disciplinary panel at the national stadium. This would rule him out of being in the dugout for Celtic's next two against Livingston and Rangers.

What is the charge facing Brendan Rodgers?

The Northern Irishman was hit with a notice of complaint by the SFA on March 6.

This was in line with an alleged breach of Disciplinary Rule 72.

The law reads: "No recognised football body, club, official, Team Official or other member of Team Staff, player or other person under the jurisdiction of the Scottish FA, shall in an interview, a ‘blog’ on the internet, on a social networking or micro-blogging site, or in any other manner calculated or likely to lead to publicity (i) criticise the Decision(s) and/or performance(s) of any or all match official(s) in such a way as to indicate bias or incompetence on the part of such match official; or (ii) make remarks about such match official(s) which impinge on his character."

When will the hearing take place & when will we know the outcome?

The hearing will take place before the SFA's disciplinary panel TODAY on Thursday, March 28.

It will be conducted in the afternoon at Hampden Park. 

It's understood the outcome of the meeting is expected to land at some point after 3pm, later this afternoon.

What did Brendan Rodgers say? 

“I try to respect decisions and give the benefit of the doubt. But I think when I see that level of incompetence, which is the only word I can use, then that makes me worry for the game.

"In such a tight title race that can make the difference. I also think that VAR is not the problem here. That's clear. It's competence.

"The first one is the sending off when there is no force. Show a still image of that and of course and you will see a foot up with the head near it, but it's not the reality of the move. Don got it actually right on the field. It was a high boot, so it's a yellow card - no malice or force.

“For John Beaton to actually look at that in VAR, supposedly under no pressure, and say that was sending off? I find that incredible.

"The second one is worse. If you have a penalty go against you for that then there will be penalties every single weekend and midweek.”

Who will represent Brendan Rodgers at the hearing?

Legal expert Nick De Marco will defend Rodgers in the case.

The barrister was previously described by football finance expert Kieran Maguire as the ‘football law version of Lionel Messi’.

He's been involved with Leicester City and Nottingham Forest's points deduction cases with the Premier League, and he was previously hired by Celtic to clear Scott Brown of an SFA charge in 2019.
