Brentford head coach Thomas Frank has officially stated that Scotland star Aaron Hickey may not see any further action for the Bees in the English Premier League this season, despite his return to light training.
Hickey, 21, has been out of action because of a hamstring injury sustained during training with Brentford in late October 2023. His last competitive appearance came in a 2-0 win over Chelsea nearly six months ago and he was initially anticipated to return by February.
However, problems throughout his rehabilitation process suggests his season might conclude without additional appearances - leaving his fitness and chances of featuring for Steve Clarke's national team at Euro 2024 in jeopardy.

Asked how Hickey was progressing, the Bees boss admitted: "Hickey, I think I saw him run out on the grass today. I don't expect him to be available before the end of the season so it's a big positive if he is."
Hickey has 14 Scotland caps to date, and manager Clarke claimed last month that he was "hopeful" the versatile full-back would return in time to be selected as part of his 23-man squad that will jet off to Germany.
