A deflated Kris Boyd has admitted that the title race is over for Rangers.

The former Gers striker believes his old club has slipped up one too many times over the past fortnight.

Celtic lead the Premiership table by three points, with Philippe Clement's men passing up the chance to make it just one. The Ibrox side played their game-in-hand against Dundee at Dens Park finally, with Tony Docherty's side securing a 0-0 draw.

That result comes just days after a bitterly disappointing defeat to Ross County in the Highlands - a week after a thrilling 3-3 stalemate at home to arch-Glasgow rivals Celtic.

Boyd was on punditry duty for Sky Sports last night as part of the broadcaster's coverage of the encounter in the City of Discovery. 

And with a sense of doom surrounding his tone when talking about his former employer, he conceded that he can't see a way back for Rangers, as Celtic look on course to make it three-in-a-row.

"I said after the Rangers vs Celtic game at Ibrox that it was going to be a tough ask, but they've made it a lot harder now," he commented. "Rangers can go and win that game at Celtic Park now and it's still irrelevant.

"There are five goals in it as well... I just can't see any way back for Rangers now."

His fellow pundit, Chris Sutton, was in a slightly better mood, as the former Celtic striker aired his confidence that Brendan Rodgers' side will go on to seal the deal now.

He said: "Is it Celtic's to lose? Of course, it is. They are in front, three points ahead. I bet they can't believe what they are seeing. I do think they will win it."
