The PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year has been released.

Players in the top flight recently cast their votes to elect the best XI from the league over the course of the 2023/34 campaign.

As per usual, Rangers and Celtic players make up the majority of the side - with three from Ibrox and four from Parkhead given the nod.

Starting at the back, unsurprisingly, Jack Butland is in goal, with Gers teammate James Tavernier at right back. He's joined by Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales at the heart of the defence, with Dundee's Owen Beck a shock inclusion at left-back.

In midfield, Matt O'Riley and Callum McGregor were the obvious picks from Celtic, while John Lundstram's inclusion appears to have raised more than a few eyebrows.

Onto the frontline, and the league's top scorer, Lawrence Shankland, simply had to be included. The Hearts striker is also a strong candidate for Player of the Year. 

He's in the company of Aberdeen's Bojan Miovski and Motherwell forward Theo Bair up top.

Meanwhile, Philippe Clement has predicted that Dujon Sterling will choose his words more wisely in future and admitted that former Celtic player Virgil van Dijk would not have lacerated his own team the way the Rangers utility man did after the draw with Dundee.

A clearly emotional Sterling was scathing about how the Ibrox club had performed in the immediate aftermath of their rearranged cinch Premiership match at Dens Park on Wednesday night.

The former Chelsea player described his side’s displays in their last two outings as “s***” and stated that it had looked as though they had nothing to play for in “dead rubber” fixtures.
