Kris Boyd is expecting a mass player exodus at Rangers this summer - with it "difficult" to put up a case to keep a large contingent of the current squad.

Philippe Clement's side came from behind to defeat Dundee on Tuesday, yet with the season reaching its finale, arch-rivals Celtic can clinch the Scottish Premiership title tonight if they pick up at least a point against Kilmarnock.

It will be the Hoops' third consecutive league crown, leaving those of Rangers persuasion desperate for change.

Ryan Jack, John Lundstram and Borna Barisic are all expected to depart the club in June upon their contract expiries. While there are several big money signings, such as Jose Cifuentes, who have failed to hit the ground running, both at Ibrox and out on-loan that perhaps deserve to be shown the door according to Boyd.

Speaking on Sky Sports, the ex-Rangers striker said: “There’s a lot more that are still in contracts that Clement will look to move on. (Ianis) Hagi, (Sam) Lammers, (Jose) Cifuentes, (Alex) Lowry.

"They’ve all been out on loan and not really done it. What does the future hold for them?

“You’re then looking at (Tom) Lawrence and (Ben) Davies. They’ve hardly played. (Todd) Cantwell, there’s questions about him, and (Kieran) Dowell as well."

“With Rangers not winning the league, Clement may have to lose players he doesn’t want to lose," Boyd added as he suggested there will be individuals moving on that could've still done a job for Rangers.

“He’s spoken about John Lundstram and not wanting contracts to run down. He’s played nearly every minute. Leon Balogun is another who is content to play a few and then go out (of the starting XI). Sometimes, you need those types of characters.

“The rest, it is difficult to put forward a case to keep.”
