Thousands of Celtic supporters descend on Glasgow title party

Brendan Rodgers' side lifted the league trophy on Saturday as they ended their campaign with a 3-2 win over St Mirren.

And supporters have been in a party atmosphere since well before kick-off with jubilant scenes throughout Glasgow since the league was mathematically won on Wednesday.

However, title celebrations have now ramped up with thousands of supporters gathering in Glasgow to celebrate the league title success.

The streets in the Trongate area of Glasgow are currently rammed with Celtic supporters.

Images show supporters basking in the sunshine with roads closed due to the unofficial title party.

Some supporters have scaled traffic lights and bus stops during the celebrations with green smoke bombs being set off amongst the large crowds.

Other supporters can be seen celebrating at the Mercat Building in Glasgow with flags being waved.

Glasgow City Council have urged supporters to celebrate respectfully, a statement read: "Glasgow is a football city - and proud to be home to some of the biggest teams in the game. 

"Fans support their club, whatever the result - and when they win, celebrations are to be savoured. However, when things get out of hand there can be a negative impact on other Glaswegians and for visitors to our city. 

"In recent year many people have felt uncomfortable and even unsafe when supporters have congregated in places like Trongate or George Square to celebrate.”
